2002 National AGDA Awards Weekend

Have you booked your tickets for the Awards Weekend yet? Have you decided who you are going to have drinks, dinner and generally party with? Better get in quick because the rumour is that about 90% of the big night's Award Dinner and Ceremony tickets are already gone! If you can't get a ticket to the dinner, come for the Dance Party afterwards and see the exhibition while you are there.

As someone who has been to most of the Awards since 1992, all I can say is that these weekends are fantastic. How else can you get to meet and hang out with a bunch of leading designers from all around Australia, all in one convenient locality? This is big fun disguised as professional networking.

I could mention the specifics of juicy bar/cafe conversations where the street talk is unadulterated and on fast-forward, unusual late night swimming attire and just how physically demanding designer dance parties can really be, but I would probably be run out of the country (only having just returned) by the individuals concerned, so I won't. However, I am looking forward to the recovery brunch, which I reckon will be Australia's biggest display of very dark designer shades for the summer.

Don't be the one hearing the stories afterwards, be the one telling them!
