AGDA 2002 NATIONAL AWARDS; A WEEKEND OF EVENTS
Whether you are coming from interstate or around the corner, the 2002 National AGDA Awards will provide you the opportunity to view Melbourne through the eyes of our local design community.
We have packed the entire Awards weekend with events that will serve up a mouth watering taste of the unique flavour of Melbourne.
To whet your appetite we have included a preview of events. Details will follow soon.
BEER O'CLOCK.
Friday evening, November 8, 5:30pm
A rich tradition celebrated by design studios throughout the nation; come and join us as we 'knock the top off one' Melbourne style to mark the end of a working week, and the beginning of Awards festivities.
Local designers invite you to join them at their studios or regular watering holes to carry on this grand tradition.
MELBOURNE DESIGNERS HOST DINNER IN THEIR FAVOURITE RESTAURANTS.
Friday night, November 8
Literally a taste of Melbourne for both visiting and local designers. Choose from a selection of interesting, renowned, and hip eating experiences... and hosts. Book for one, or come with a crowd; a top way to kick-off the weekend.
GREAT OCEAN ROAD SURF EXPERIENCE
Saturday November 9
Glassy clean waves (hopefully), off-shore breeze (could be), sun (maybe), sand and salt (definitely), nine foot malibus, Rip Curl wet suits, chicko rolls, Big M and hot chips - lets get out there and carve it up.
If you've always wanted to surf, tried a couple of times, or forgotten how; here's your chance to get amongst it with our genuine, Victorian surf experience. A day trip that takes in our world famous Surf Coast, two hours of personalised surf school for beginners, board, wet suit and a lunch of steaming hot fish and chips.
And for those who don't wish to get wet, there's a visit to the mecca of surf; Bells Beach and Surf World at Torquay.

RECOVERY BRUNCH

What better way to recover from the night before, but with a relaxing brunch at the St. Kilda Bowls Club. Struggle out of bed mid morning, and wander down to join us for a gourmet barbecue lunch, a recuperative 'hair of the dog', and a quiet game of lawn bowls.
HEIDE GALLERY TOUR
Sunday November 10
If you still have an appetite for the creative and visual, join us on a tour of the renowned Heide Gallery of Contemporary Art. The day includes a mouth watering brunch, entry to all exhibitions and the beautiful Heide sculpture gardens; enough to satisfy the most ravenous appetite.
THE HEPBURN SPA EXPERIENCE

For those in need of fresh air and pampering, this day trip provides the perfect conclusion to your weekend. A picturesque drive through Daylesford mineral springs region will deliver you to the tranquil spa resort at Hepburn Springs, where a selection of mineral springs spa and massage options await. Following your relaxation, trans-formation and detoxification, a delicious feast will be served for lunch against a picture postcard backdrop of the Victorian spa country.

Saturday Evening November 9
Sydney has the Opera House and Melbourne has the Sidney Myer Music Bowl; architectural icons from the days when men were gentlemen, and less wasn't more. Where better to host the Melbourne 2002 National AGDA Awards ceremony and dinner?
This unique and memorable evening will include pre-awards cocktails, the awards extravaganza, awards exhibition, a sumptuous dining experience and toe tapping entertainment.
AWARDS DANCE PARTY
Saturday night
As the dinner slows down, the awards dance party kicks-off. Aimed at those who don't wish to go home, or those whose evening is just beginning - entry to the dance party is included in the price of your awards dinner ticket, or at a cost for those not attending the dinner.
The dance party will also be held at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, the DJ team will let loose until 3am, with food and drinks at bar prices.
