The Guild is a very very limited edition book by design, tee-shirt art and sticker protagonists Îseven-nine'.
In January 2006 seven-nine released 40 copies of 'The Guild'. Each copy has a screen printed cover and black & white laser internal pages (52) and is presented in a handmade cloth pouch. 25 copies went to the artists and others involved. 5 went to personal collections and 10 are for sale at the Greville St Bookstore in Prahran, with proceeds going to The Wilderness Society. So, if you would like a copy you had better get in quick.
It started out as a Christmas gift idea - where like-minded artists could collaborate on a book that they would then give to one another - and quickly grew into a vehicle to facilitate the sharing of ideas and work.
The artists involved are from seven different countries and are connected through friendship, geography, school or a common approach to their work. Hence 'The Guild'.
Each artist was asked to think of their work as a gift to all others involved and respond to the themes of relaxation and/or escapism.
And its been a gift in other ways, with artists receiving terrific feedback and a number of great job offers since The Guild's release.
