Featuring Wayne Carey's Indiscretions, cloning, the children overboard scandal and other events of public significance, Melbourne based design company Cornwell present 'Issues and Images Since September 11 - A Poster Art Journey'. The concept behind the exhibition was born in the small hours of September 12th when CEO Steven Cornwell translated his emotions into a visual format through a poster commentary on the American psyche. What started as a very personal form of expression has gradually evolved into a much broader concept with the potential to contribute significantly to the work of The Cancer Council Victoria.
Using Steven Cornwell's September 11 poster as the 1st of a series of 12, Cornwell has allocated a month of the year to individual graphic designers and given them the opportunity to express their opinion on an event of public significance. A kind of graphic journalism documenting how the world has changed within a year.
The opening night of the exhibition and auction of these one off prints will be held on September 9th, almost a year after the birth of the 1st poster with the invitation only event expected to raise a significant amount of money for The Cancer Council. Following the auction, the posters will be left hanging for a week, providing the public with a chance to view the works. Entry is free but patrons are encouraged to purchase a catalogue with proceeds to also go to Cancer research.
