FAQ

Some thoughts on Industrial Design:
Robert Foster established F!NK in 1993 to manufacture contemporary and innovative tableware. This was a natural progression from his highly distinctive and acclaimed exhibition work, where he gained an international reputation as a silversmith and designer.

F!NK products are designed by Australian artists and made solely in Australia. Our products are not mass produced but are rather produced in small runs, requiring skilled and devoted staff. Each object is individually hand finished, and is therefore individual and embedded with its own unique characterisitics - more like a piece of art.

Some thoughts on Furniture Design:
Jon Goulder grew up surrounded by furniture, both in his family factory and at home. In 1992 he completed and apprenticeship in upholstery and furniture making to become a fourth generation craftsman. He began his professional design career in 1994, designing soft furnishings for large commercial retailers, before moving to Canberra in 1996. He completed a diploma of Art, craft and design in the wood workshop at the Canberra School of Art in 1999.

Goulder now lectures part time in furniture design at the University of Technology Sydney. He is also the visiting fellow, lecturing with design groups around Australia. His work has featured in a number of major exhibitions and publications around the world. Exhibitions including Interiors at Object Galleries (2001), the Sydney Design Week Workshopped Exhibitions (2002-03), Object Galleries, Sydney Style (2004), Modern White 40 Degrees, Berlin (2004), and Harry Seidler's Selection, 50 years of Good Design (2000). Most recently he was the inaugural winner of Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award, Winner of the Hobart Art Prize along with the Peoples Choice Award and has just been collected by the Powerhouse Museum.
