Libby Sellers, Curator at London's Design Museum, talks about design and shares her experiences of working at one of the world's major design centres.
Join us for a public talk with senior curator Libby Sellers. At London's Design Museum, one of the world's first museums devoted to design, architecture and fashion, Libby has the opportunity to develop innovative exhibitions focussed on the public's engagement with design culture. Libby's recent exhibitions include the first retrospective of British graphic designer Peter Saville, the annual Designer of the Year awards scheme and the major Marc Newson exhibition.
Before joining the Design Museum in 2002, Libby was co-founder of Restructure Ltd, a specialist design and architectural exhibitions company, curators of the Design Council's Great Expectations touring exhibition. A graduate in design history from the Royal College of Art's joint MA with the Victoria and Albert museum, Libby has also worked as a freelance journalist and lecturer.
This special event coincides with Object Gallery's annual showcase of the best graduate designs from across Australia, new design 2006, on show until 7 May. Libby joins a panel of experts to judge the the two highly sought-after awards on offer: the Object Award for Design for Manufacture and the Object Award for Studio-Based Practice.
