Hobby / hob-ee / n. (pl. -ies) leisure time activity pursued for pleasure.
The perfect job... Or is it? How much pleasure does it give you when it is not just a leisure time activity?
We students get so bombarded with stories of how we have to go and get a real job, work for the big company, sell our soul, burn out and work weekends. Often we forget that design is an art form and meant to be fun. Design becomes segregated into our little part in the chain of the larger business.
To combat this, many people turn to hobbies late at night, working on something they're actually interested in and dream of the day when they can leave their workplace and strike out alone.
But how easy is it to do that? How big is the risk? And how much do you shit yourself?
Monster Children, Design is Kinky and Paris|Sydney|Tokyo give an insight into what it was like for them to walk away from jobs and take that leap of faith, while filling you in on where they've been and where they're heading.
