Experience this cinematic journey
An advertising and design graduate from Adelaide, Nick Pill made the move to Sydney after hearing a rumor that a Walt Disney Animation Studio was in production there.
Climbing the rungs of the Disney ladder, Nick became Senior Layout Artist and Supervisor working on complex environments, character and prop design, conceptualizing & storyboarding sequences, cinematic structure analysis, running teams of up to 10 layout artists, responsible for handing out, checking and approving completed scenes, oh and the everyday creative team management and administrative work.
After 14 years at Disney, Nick moved into the booming digital animation world at Animal Logic, working as Lead Environment Concept Artist on the Oscar winning film "Happy Feet". Here the jobs included environment and prop design, orthographic s for modeling department, colour boards for lighting department, collating photographic reference for the surfacing department and running team of 6 concept artists. His old friend, the pencil had by now given way to the Wacom Intuos 3 grip pen and photoshop...
After which, there was no going back-and when the call came from Rising Sun Pictures, he relocated back to Adelaide to work on the film Charlotte's Web and a constant variety of projects which have included "Harry Potter 5", "The Ruins", "28 Weeks Later" and "Dark Is Rising".
Revel in Nick's experiences and tap into how design and designers play an integral role in the viewers cinematic journey.
