FAQ

by AGDA Conference Committee

Relax, recharge and renew for three sun-drenched days at the newly refurbished Holiday Inn on the Gold Coast, venue of the AGDA National Conference, the premier boutique event on the national design calendar.

AGDA is proud to announce that highly awarded, intrepid Italian designer Leonardo Sonnoli will lead this year's speaker program together with AGDA Awards Pinnacle winner New Zealand's Alt Group director Dean Poole, and acclaimed East meets West furniture designer Khai Liew.

Be informed, inspired and invigorated!

Theme

This year's theme Experience goes beyond the usual realms of experiential branding and design.

Experience helps define our history and our roots.
To look back to the future.
To develop beliefs, disciplines, languages and rules.
To move forward, progress, innovate.

"The subtle rules that in effect tie both the designer's hands behind his back. As always it is the struggle to wriggle and eventually break free that the audience enjoys."
- George Hardie on Leonardo Sonnoli's work

Background

The AGDA National Conference originated in Queensland in 1993 attracting a high calibre of national and international presenters, as well as company and studio directors, practitioners, marketers, business and professional associates from across the design, communications, technology and allied industries.

Previous conference speakers have included Ken Cato, Alison Hulett, Gordon Andrews, Gary Emery, Ken Done, Ros and John Moriarty, Vince Frost, Alexander Isley, Lynn Tidckett, Rick Valicenti, Wally Olins, Wolfgang Weingart, Paul Davis.

"A fantastic conference and a stimulating joy to be REMINDED of many of the sound and inspiring elements that were my design influences when I began my professional journey years ago," said Helen Dean of the 2005 AGDA Conference. "Refreshing and reassuring to hear the word LANDSCAPE used as a design influence by each of the design speakers in this age of technology. CONGRATULATIONS TEAM YOU DID A FANTASTIC JOB!"

Not only did Helen and her fellow attendees enjoy the inspirational landscape of speakers and sponsors, but also the stimulating relationships and friendships fostered and renewed during those 3 days, and more.

Program Highlights

The AGDA National Conference 2007 promises to exceed previous expectations, featuring an impressive line-up of speakers with a wealth of experience and practice extending beyond our shores - a unique package that will refresh and renew, embrace and extend, ignite and inspire!

Keynote presentations, case studies, masterclass and panel sessions by lead practitioners will provide insights, processes and techniques on:

  • The Legacy of Experience
  • Sustaining a Successful Practice
  • Brand Global, Act Local
  • Creating Culture and Identity
Plus the next step in developing the AGDA Design Summit within the conference program will lead the Australian design community on a critical journey of discovery and discourse, and chart a road-map for the national design agenda in a new era of constant change.

All of which will increase every professional's cache of business tools, creative thinking and inspirational strategies to live, work and contribute better.
