Means balancing heart and head for Watts Design

Having a design studio is an exciting creative outlet.

Even though projects are sometimes compromised or rushed, they still provide a conceptual or visual challenge, which allows us to leave at the end of the day with some sense of creative fulfilment. To ensure these challenges are constantly fuelled, and to maintain a studios existence, we must build strong relationships, constantly soak-up inspiration, manage with integrity and exert a drive for positive financial outcomes.

In an industry that is constantly changing, we need to adapt to industry expectations, maintain our design ethics, ensure our professionalism and standards are uncompromised, and show leadership to guarantee a future for design in our culture.

At the AGDA National Conference 2007, Helen Watts, Creative Director and co-owner of Watts Design, will discuss how a balance of heart and head has ensured their survival over the last 18 years.

Watts Design has won major national and international awards for design excellence, and whose work has appeared in over 60 design annuals worldwide.

An active member within the design industry, Helen was a member of AGDA Council for over five years, serving as Victorian President for three years. Helen's creative design and business integrity is fuelled by her passion for the design industry. She is committed to continuing her work in improving industry standards and nurturing the skills of future industry leaders.
