Film lovers will have the chance to see work from Australia's hottest young film makers during the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) 2005 National Screening Tour.

The AFTRS National Screening Tour will take a collection of the best films produced by 2004 AFTRS graduates to each state from June 28- August 20. Many of the films have already screened at national and international film festivals.

AFTRS Director Malcolm Long said the National Screening Tour would showcase the best films produced by a new generation of Australian filmmakers.

"The National Screening Tour is the culmination of two years of intensive hands-on film making by highly-gifted students working with the very best mentors and advanced production equipment," Mr Long said.

"We invite you to come along and see some of the most exciting short films produced in Australia this year."

AFTRS has a remarkable record of success. AFTRS graduates and their work have been represented at the last four Academy Awards¨. Its roll-call of graduates includes many of Australia's finest filmmakers such as: Jane Campion, Phillip Noyce, Gillian Armstrong, PJ Hogan, Jocelyn Moorhouse, Dion Beebe, Cate Shortland and Rachael Perkins. In 2005, the student film Birthday Boy was nominated for an Academy Award¨ for Best Animated Short.

The National Screening Tour will include free recruitment seminars detailing how to apply for Australia's top screen and broadcast training institution. Applications for AFTRS open July 22.
