Icograda endorses Good 50x70
Icograda is pleased to announce its endorsement of Good 50x70, a new Italian-led project to promote innovation in the field of social communication. The project's aim is to raise awareness in young designers about the relevance of social communication. It is open to students and creatives (graphic designers, art directors, copywriters, photographers, etc.) under the age of 35.

Icograda Education Network welcomes Philadelphia University
Philadelphia University, in Amman Jordan, is the newest member of the Icograda Education Network. Formed in 1999, the university offers a four year undergraduate programme in Graphic Design and introduced an Interior Design programme in 2006. The design department has a student enrolment of 260, with a faculty of seven.

Rob Wallace appointed to the DMI Advisory Council
The DMI Board of Directors has approved the nomination of Rob Wallace, Managing Partner, Wallace Church, Inc., to join the DMI Advisory Council. Wallace has more than twenty years of expertise in all visual branding strategy and design issues for national and global brands. His core expertise is the ability to synthesise brand identity strategy and design to create brand experiences that drive consumer purchase behaviour.

Call for abstracts: Icograda World Design Congress 2007
The Icograda Education Network (IEN) Conference will take place during the first two days of the Icograda World Design Congress, from 20-21 October 2007. It will bring together the worldwide community of communication design educational institutions. The event will include invited and refereed papers on design education and culture. Icograda is inviting abstracts from the international design community.

Design exhibition: Leonardo Sonnoli

Leonardo Sonnoli (Trieste, 1962) was awarded a Diploma from the High Institute of Industrial Arts of Urbino and received his professional instruction and training at the Tassinari/Vetta Studio of Trieste. From 1990 to 2001 he worked as a Creative Director for the Pesaro-based Dolcini Associati Studio. There, he was involved with the visual identity of private and public companies, with the communication of cultural events, signal systems and exhibition graphics. In 2002, he founded CODEsign along with Paolo Tassinari and Pierpaolo Vetta. Now, he is a partner of the Tassinari/Vetta Studio. His posters are held in major international public collections (National Library of France in Paris, Museum of Decorative Arts in Zurich). His works have been exhibited in several exhibitions in Bonn, Chaumont, Ningbo (China), in Tehran. Moreover, he has published his works in respective catalogues and international journals. He has been awarded silver medal by the Art Exhibition of Toyama (Japan) and received the "Mention of Honour" recognition at the XIX Premio Compasso d'oro/Adi, the Merit Award of the Art Directors Club of New York and the Golden Bee award in Moscow. Sonnoli is a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (2000-), being elected as a President for Italy (2003), and member of the AGI International Executive Commitee. He is teaching at the Faculty of Design and Arts of the IUAV University of Venice, living and working between Rimini and Trieste.
The exhibition is organised by Emzin institute of creative production. It will be on display from 15 March 2007 to 11 May 2007, every workday between 08:00 and 18:00.
Creative Waves 2007: Visualising Issues in Pharmacy (VIP)
The VIP project will challenge a diverse body of students and educators to address important global health issues, by producing detailed research reports and subsequent graphic and visual communication campaigns for implementation in specific local hospitals and health centres in Kenya, Africa. Over 50 pharmacy students and 50 design students will join forces for three months (April - June) with project convenors, teachers and special guests worldwide, to work collaboratively within Omnium’s fully online learning environment. Participants will form valuable connections with colleagues in distant parts of the world, receiving regular feedback and support from peers, teachers and established professionals, using the Internet as their sole communication tool.
