Shared Dreams on display at Icograda Design Week in Seattle

A critically acclaimed project of the AIGA Center for Cross-Cultural Design and Prografica, Icograda's member association in Cuba, will be on display at Icograda Design Week in Seattle. With Shared Dreams 2006, Cuban and U.S. designers were selected to collaborate using the language that they know best: visual design and digital technology. The result is a collection of posters that demonstrates how both Cubans and Americans think surprisingly alike when it comes to their respective viewpoints about peace and security in their lifetimes.

Creativity Courses in Europe: Summer 06

Founded in 1993, the Creativity Workshop is dedicated to teaching people about their creativity and how to use it in all aspects of life, work, and creative expression. The Creativity Workshop helps people believe in and develop their imagination through using a unique series of exercises in memoir, creative writing, visual arts, sense perception, brainstorming, and storytelling. In a non-competitive, nurturing atmosphere, our workshops help participants develop creative skills, expanded sense perception, innovative problem solving, inspired brainstorming, and new ways of looking at life as exciting and transformative. The only requirements for the Creativity Workshop are curiosity about the creative process and a sense of playfulness.

Employment Opportunity: Research job for a design historian
University of Reading, Department of Typography & Graphic Communication

Two researchers in information design history for an Arts & Humanities Research Council funded project, 'Designing information in everyday life, 1815-1914'. This project offers two researchers excellent opportunities to do innovative work within a new field. It investigates the products of Victorian 'information design', and the everyday interactions which were conducted through ephemeral printed documents - charts, forms, catalogues, and diagrams. What demands did their rich and varied configurations make on newly literate audiences? What were the sources of innovation in the graphic organisation of information?

Requirements: One with a background in design history, print or visual culture, or graphic communication. One with a background in modern social or economic history. Each with PhD or equivalent, analytic & archival skills, ICT literacy, ability to work collaboratively.

Closing date for applications: 27 June 2006
