Design as an Ideological State-Apparatus
by Slavoj Zizek,
published from the proceedings of Era 05: The World Design Congress
The term 'design' oscillates between these two extremes: between design in the sense of 'mere design,' of designing the aesthetic form of a product, and design in the sense of constructing the very inner core, the genetic formula, of an organism.

of a product." We want to know what you think.

Lab.3000 present AGIdeas ‘Advantage’
12 May 2006, Melbourne
The third Design for Business Advantage Program will be opened by the Hon. André Haermeyer, MP, Minister for Manufacturing and Export, Small Business and Financial Services. The International Design for Business Forum will demonstrate the critical role that design plays in bridging organisational creativity and its delivery of products, services and reputation. Companies that recognise the importance of design thinking and problem solving, benefit on practically every measure of business performance. Good design is more than styling; it offers better functionality, better communication and better use of resources. Put simply, design is the point of difference and as business leader Tom Peters once said, “design is the soul of new enterprise.”
With design contributing $6.8 billion per annum to Victoria’s GDP, ask yourself if your are realising the design capital your business deserves?
