And the 2005-2007 Icograda Board Nominees
are...
During the Icograda General Assembly in Copenhagen,
voting members of Icograda will be electing an Incoming Board of
Directors for the 2005-2007 term. Though all nominees belong to Icograda
Member Organisations, elected nominees will be sitting on the Board as
individuals and not as representatives of their respective
organisations. They will be joining the 2005-2007 Icograda President,
Jacques Lange (DEFSA, South Africa), who was named President Elect at
the 2003 General Assembly in Nagoya, Japan. In order to provide you with
a sneak preview of possible directions for the two years ahead, we would
like to introduce you to your Board Nominees.
The New Graphis Design Journal - Europe
and Africa: Call for Entries
Because the New Graphis
Design Journal will be devoting one of its issues to design from Europe
and Africa, it is making a call to designers working in these regions to
submit work before 30 September 2005. This Journal aims to feature the
best graphic design in Europe and Africa.

Preaching, Poaching or Prospecting: What is Cross-Cultural
Design?
by Linda Cooper Bowen, United States
Cross-cultural design does not have a single definition. Does it
mean the same as 'multi-cultural', 'trans-cultural' or 'global
design'? Linda Cooper Bowen explores this question and others in this
week's Feature.
O P I N I O N
The Art of
Compromise: Do graphic
designers have sufficient authority to influence clients when it comes
to marketing stereotypes?
Many graphic designers feel that they have to
compromise too much of their values and vision in order to cater to the
marketing stereotypes of their clients. We would like to know where you
stand on this issue.

(International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations)
Renovates their Website
The IFFRO website has recently undergone a
complete makeover. Improved functionality, new content and a renovation
of the home page are just a few of the things that visitors of this
website can look forward to.
Of particular interest are: a FAQ section
which defines terms essential to the field of activity of RROs
(Reproduction Rights Organisations) and IFFRO and a more expansive
Copyright Legislation Database which enables users to view relevant
articles on reprography in national legislation and copyright by models
of operation and continent.
