The 27 April is the birth date of Icograda (in 1963) and since a few years, graphic designers around the world use to celebrate this date, the one during which they make some happenings, events or simply have a drink or party with colleagues!

The image of a social community
The Design Day is not only an opportunity for a celebration, but also a time to reconsider our role as the active paricipants in the shaping of the worls we live in, has been proved today by Croatian designers. Two Croatian associations and ICOGRADA members, ULUPUH and HDD, have written and sent a letter to the President, the Prime Minister, the Parliament and all Ministires of their country, as well as addressed the
public through the daily press. Tired of seeing their profession always pushed back by the politics, they have decided to raise the question of their country's visual identity, created by politicians and for the politicians, without any regard to design standards or respect for their profession. They have stated the need for a new visual identity of their country, more suited to the contemoporary needs, image and values they wish Croatia to project, and invited the responsible government institutionss to collaborate in a joined effort in its creation.

Icograda Excellence Award to Orsat Frankovic
At the opening of the O2 exhibition in Zabreg on April 10, 2001, David Grossman and Robert L. Peters took part in the Jury which granted an Icograda Excellence Award to Orsat Frankovic for his postage stamp dedicated commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Croatian Writers' Society.

The jury of the 8th International Triennale of Political Posters, Mons 2001 selected 148 from 569 posters submitted by 166 designers from 37 countries.
Prizes:
1. Prize: Marianne Blairon, Belgium, for "S.O.S. Excision"
2. Prize: Olivier Sonck, Belgium, for "Laver separement peut deteindre"
3. Prize: Frederic Deltenre, Belgium, for "Haider"
4. Prize: Gerard Paris-Clavel, France, for "Brouillage des medias et pietons de la ville" (diptyque)
