Court case to set legal copyright precedent?
The rights of creators are being threatened on the Internet. Intellectual property provisions are not widely understood or followed. Courts cannot seem to keep up with the speed of change. Issues raised by the lawsuit of American photographer Leslie A. Kelly vs. ditto.com may set important precedents and standards for appropriate business, ethical, and legal practices.
Julia Ptasznik has prepared this Story for Icograda, about this important case which is presently going into appeal. The case's final outcome may have profound implications for creators of images, music, and other copyrighted material in every part of the world.

Does working in-house mean less creativity?
Article from HOW Magazine by Adriane Lee Schwartz.
E: adriane@thecreativeresource.com
W: http://www.howdesign.com
Creativity in the House: In-house teams face the same creative challenges as any other design group. Here's how to stay fresh when you're toeing the company line. A common perception among designers is that working in-house is less inspiring than working for multiple clients. Corporate brand standards, internal politics and a mistrust of "those wacky designers" within other parts of an organization conspire to squelch every ounce of creativity.
You want to know more on in-houses teams' creativity? Read about it at http://www.icograda.org in the Feature area.

International competition for the design of decoration systems for wine packaging. This competition is conducted with the endorsement and supervision of Aiap,the Italian Association of Graphic Design. The regulations and guidelines are based on the international Icograda/Icsid/Ifi norms for the organization of design competitions.
The theme of the competition is the design of a decoration system for the packaging of six bottles of wine (white or red wine, in standard Bordeaux bottles). The usual box for the packing of six wine bottles is a container in corrugated cardboard. The external surfaces are seen as purely functional, without any particular communicative impact. The idea behind this competition is to find a way to utilize the external spaces of the box, adding aesthetic and communicative value to the packaging. Therefore the participants are asked to submit:
a) a design for a decoration system for popular consumer goods (which we will call Category A) in which the design focuses on a graphic solution for inexpensive production costs (two colors only);
b) a design for a decoration system for products of higher quality and a higher market level (Category B), where costs constraints do not exist (except for those outlined in the documentation brochure).
