://Fresh -- The World of Web Video
Bryan Leung for IdN

The temptation to employ web video has never been greater. First, DV has rendered the cost of video editing low enough to be eminently feasible. Second, free evaluation-class streaming video servers are now available. Third, corporate PR and viewers alike are tired of seeing just flying graphics, what they want are moving, realistic people talking to the camera. Fourth, the Internet is becoming faster and faster.

Sappi to Support Five [greater equal]Ideas That Matter[less equal] in Europe
Last year, Sappi invited graphic designers to apply for substantial grants that could fund the implementation of their creative ideas that supported causes close to their hearts. The European selection committee has chosen five creative campaigns which were designed by: O. Mohlmann and B. Rubini (France) for the Association France Alzheimer; C. Schwecker and U. Mueller-Frey (Germany) for  Wildwasser Woertzburg; S. Binfati (Italy) for GOAP; T. van Heijden (the Netherlands) for Amnesty International; and A. Hale (United Kingdom) for Milton Keynes Women's Aid. They will be implemented with funding from Sappi amounting to approximately Euro 200,000.

The Forest of Thoughts
C: Wenke Hess

The contributing artists are: Julian Boyd (Hamburg), Paul Davis (London), Tony Dunne (London) FAT (London), Gosling (San Francisco), Tota Hasegawa (Tokyo), Karl Hoffmann (Berlin), jodi.org (Barcelona), Laurie Haycock Makela (Detroit), N55 (Copenhagen), Fiona Raby (London), Michael Saup (Frankfurt), Thomas Schunke (Geneva), skim.com (Z[cedilla]rich), John Warwicker (London).

Uncanny
The Art & Design of Shawn Wolfe
Published by Houston
E: sales@emigre.com
See the cover image at: http://www.emigre.com/CBUN.html
From days spent working in retail and cranking out handmade fanzines to a tour of duty in the trenches of the apparel industry to his current position as one of Seattle's most notorious fin de siecle artists, Wolfe has branded his work with the style and wit of a man who spent the late 20th Century at cultural ground zero-the point of sale. "Uncanny" showcases the brief history of the so-called "advertisement for its own future uselessness," from its inception in 1984 to its final campaign for self-annihilation.
