>Icograda World Graphics Day. April 27, 1999
Members are reminded to celebrate graphic design in their office, community or with the wider public. This year's theme is "Some Paper back to Nature". You are asked to arrange a tree planting ceremony. Each Icograda Member Association, School, graphic design practice or individual is encouraged to plant a tree on that day. Turkey is taking the lead. GMK, The Turkish Society of Graphic Designers and CEKUL, the Foundation for Protection of Natural and Architectural Environment in Istanbul have arranged to take two empty fields and they will be planted and known as the OEIcograda Forest'. It is envisaged that each year additional trees will be planted. Designers everywhere are invited to do the same. The Icograda International Workshop for Young Designers. Information and registration details are available for this workshop which will take place June 28-July 3, 1999 in Seoul. The workshop will be concerned with producing conceptual solutions to visual communication aspects of the Seoul metropolitan landscape. >Twenty-Fifth Icograda/Sappi London Seminar
The twenty-fifth Icograda/Sappi London Seminar attracted almost 1000 delegates. Many speakers from the past twenty-five years were in the audience. The multi-media presentation OEIcograda Hall of Fame' which looked at the progress of graphic design in the last quarter of a century through the work of the speakers from sixteen countries received its premier in the Odeon Cinema. It was prepared by the Students from Buckinghamshire College. Plans are in hand to make this work available as an interactive CD and in book form and we will advise member associations when it is available. Icograda thanks the chairman Mervyn Kurlansky and the 120 speakers from the last 25 years and was delighted to have organised the event in collaboration with British Design & Art Direction .

> National Gaphic Design Image Database at Cooper Union
The Cooper Union, New York has announced that it has accepted 6,000 digital images for the National Graphic Design Image Database from The Art Center College of Design and Prof. Lou Danziger. It will be held at the Herb Lubalin Study Center of Design and Typography in New York City. The images range from commerce records in ancient Mesopotamia (1700BC) and 19th century posters to propaganda posters to OE30's and OE40's Eastern European art.
