The board of Icograda continues to support the implementation of thepolicies and the program of activities carefully considered and developed over the past 42 months under the leadership of President GuySchockaert. Icograda is going through a period of rapid change. Many programs and projects are under development, and results are beginningto appear. As the organization goes through a period of fundamentalalteration, it is not surprising that structural changes are sometimes required.

The board has accepted the resignation of Mary Mullin, from her position as elected Secretary General and as paid Director of the Icograda Secretariat,due to professional differences, effective immediately. MaryMullin has contributed greatly to Icograda over the past 12 years andthe board, in the name of the entire Icograda community, thanks her forher dedication. We wish her every success, the best of health and areconfident that she will continue to play an active role in theinternational design community.

>The President and Trustees of The Icograda Foundation are pleased to announce that Joe Tibbetts has been appointed as Chief Executive.

Joe Tibbetts has worked in the design business for the past fifteen years.He was managing director of International Design Marketing (IDM) from 1984 until 1992 during which time he managed communications projects for designcompanies and organisations in Japan, America, India and France as well asUK. He is currently Creative Director of Abet CMC Limited and a foundingdirector of The Millennium Projects Consortium.

Joe spent his childhood living in India and his teens in Greece. He and hispartner, Vicky Sargent, live in Kent with their two children Poppy (6) and Robert (3).

Joe has a parallel career as a writer. His plays have been performed atregional theatres all over Great Britain including the Young Vic in London. He is a regular contributor to The Sunday Times and has written andpresented documentary programmes for BBC Radio 4. He was made a fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers in 1992 and a fellow of the RSA in 1998.

Joe is currently working with The President, Guy Schockaert, to develop astrategic plan for The Icograda Foundation and they will shortly be publishing a programme of initiatives for 1999 and 2000.
