    Icograda Event:

Icograda Millennium Congress Oullim 2000 Seoul

    Date: October 24-27, 2000
    Venue: COEX, Seoul, Korea
    Tel: +82-2-708-2170
    Fax: +82-2-3672-5971
    Email: oullim@kidp.or.kr
    Web: http://www.oullim.org
Oullim is a pure Korean word meaning the great harmony. As we approach the end of the 20th century, a century of counterpoint, we are also stepping up to the dawn of a new millennium. We intend for our gathering to be an opportunity to retrace the last 100 years of design history, to review where we are, and to discuss the future. Hence we have decided on Oullim as our key concept. It refers to harmony in the upcoming age between nature, mankind, and machines, as well as to harmony between north and south, east and west, and the past, present and future.

    Planned program:
October 24: opening address and welcoming reception
October 25: Oullim of East and West, plenary session with 8 speakers
October 26: Oullim of Nature, Mankind and Machines, parallel session with 32 speakers
October 27: Oullim of Past, Present and Future, plenary session with 8 speakers and closing ceremony.

    The Cutting Edge:
One the novelties of Oullim 2000 Seoul will be graphic essays on digital media. These will be screened during presentations. They will be generated by individuals, studios, companies and organisations from all over the world in response to the challenge to demonstrate the very best of graphic or digital design.

    Seoul Designit Exhibition:
Designit is a website that suggests bright prospects for resolving problems through design initiatives (click on www.designit.org). The final result will be exhibited through multimedia virtual reality, animation, online networking and other such technologies.

    Millennium Cultural Products Exhibition
Designers from all over the world will exhibit posters representing the new millennium based on the distinctive culture of each country.

    Graphic Dreams in Seoul
A PR pavilion for Icograda member countries' design-related promotion, research, and educational organisations and a PR pavilion for overseas and domestic corporations will enliven information exchanges and business opportunities.
