AGDA ACT Australian Paper Boxing Match
Canberra has many wonderful facilities for which AGDA ACT is lucky enough to have access to. Usually guests of honour at AGDA ACT events take to the stage once graced by people such as Nelson Mandela, Gough Whitlam et al at the National Press Club. For its last calendar event (14 November) the ACT Council chose the Boxing Ring at the Australian Institute of Sport. The event? A Designers v Printers free-for-all.
Inspired by the vision of Australian Paper's David Cumbers the event was an outstanding success. The panellists faced tough, uncompromising questions and were forced to bare their souls in answer to this barrage. Their responses were eagerly awaited by a delightfully entertained audience, which was pleasingly split fifty-fifty with designers and printers.
The fierce contest was refereed by Gary Wilson from Tomasetti Paper House who declared the result a "win for AGDA" due to its good humour and honesty.
