Become a better designer...
with The Master of Design in Graphic Communication 'on line' from RMIT University.

Presented 100% online via a highly functional interactive website, this new and ground breaking interdisciplinary program will help you reach the peak of your professional abilities by enhancing critical, strategic and innovative problem solving, design and communication skills and equip you to become a business or educational leader.

The design industry is in a state of change. Designers in or aiming for senior positions need to understand issues such as the effects of technology and integrated design practice, the ramifications of global business and management strategy.

Increasingly business and industry want to work with designers who have a comprehensive understanding of these issues, however the wide-ranging nature of the expertise involved has been a considerable barrier to acquiring it.

RMIT University have recognized that there is a need to provide this knowledge and in Semester one 2002 The School of Applied Communication and the School of Fashion and Textiles at RMIT University in Melbourne launched an [OE]on line' Master of Design Program in Graphic Communication and Fashion and Textiles.

This program is open to professional designers who have at least 3 years experience or to professionals working in associated areas -teachers, photographers or writers for instance.

In undertaking this program designers working in industry will gain a greater understanding of the role of design in innovation, communication and product development.

The Program will benefit middle managers, as many of the courses (subjects) will provide them with the opportunity to enhance their current roles within the work place. The program will also provide the point of contact between the designer and business manager.

The Master of Design is delivered [OE]on line' and is extremely flexible in the way students can approach the program, - it is in fact designed for the working designer. The modular structure of the program ensures that the courses (subjects) can be selected to best suit the students needs and aspirations. Much of the work can be accomplished in the student's own time and at their own rate.

The RMIT Program offers a balanced development of business knowledge, design theory, strategic planning, knowledge management, global communication and culture. It is the development of the professional designer as a successful operator in the world of business that is RMIT's focus.

The program can be taken full time over 3 - eleven week semesters, in an accelerated mode over a year or individual subjects can be undertaken which can build to a full Masters qualification. As the Master of Design is [OE]on line' it can be taken up by any one any where in the world if they have over 3 years professional experience and a design related academic qualification.
