lab.3000 - innovation in digital design is inviting design professionals to participate in a study to explore Victoria's emerging digital design cluster and contribute to realising the vision Victoria as a leading-edge centre.
lab.3000, an initiative funded by the Victorian State Government, aims to develop and establish an internationally recognised and sustainable centre in digital design, positioning Victoria as a world leader in design.
Design professionals who use digital technologies and applications are invited to complete an online survey and will have the opportunity to win a Palm Pilot - Palm Zire 71 Handheld PDA 16MB and be invited to attend the forum The Helsinki Model: A Case Study of Design Policy and Cluster Development in October 2003.
The online survey can be found at http://www.lab.3000.com.au and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and submit. The closing date for the survey is 31 August 2003.
It seeks to answer the question for Victoria's digital design capability and future sustainability - Is there an emerging digital design cluster in Victoria? It explores issues relating to the emerging digital cluster. What it looks like, what it does, the barriers to its development, the industry action and government policies needed to encourage cluster growth and finally the benefits to the cluster members, the broader economy and community.
The results of this study will be widely disseminated to key players and the broader design community. Greater visibility of and knowledge about the economic advantages of continuing development in this sector will contribute to Victoria's Innovation and Design Strategy and help underpin Victoria's economic development in a highly competitive global environment.
